one of the founding members of apollonia, shonky was responsible for his label�s very first release back in 2012 with �the minneapolis touch�. outside of working on the trio�s debut lp �tour a tour�, shonky has been relatively quiet on the solo tip. here on apollonia�s 25th release we�re treated to four new cuts from the berlin-based parisian, kicking off with plombie&#768,,re (plumber in english). shonky injects a variety of unusual sounds, which revolve around a jaunty bassline, while voices dip in and out of the background, repeating the mantra �house music� together with other difficult to decipher vocal clips. the track has a catchy rhythm that bounces along with aplomb. up next �house me� is a sleazy, mischievous cut with a deadly low end and a seductive vocal that urges you to �house me�. as the bassline rumbles, high pitched effects add a hypnotic element to the track. badboy business.on the b-side we have �perchee�, which is powered by cleverly layered percussion, which is almost �live� sounding. another one of those �shonky� basslines gets us straight into the groove, with utterly contagious beats � this is one to shake the dance floor down its core. finally, �cosmopolis� has that inner city realness flowing through with the chatter of a street corner in the background, a killer b-line and one of those classic vocal samples that is oh so familiar and gets you nodding your head as soon as you hear it. and there it is, four dance floor cuts with plenty of depth and groove in true shonky style� c est formidable!

trolldans once again opens its musical tome of fairy tales, this time featuring the gif-ted sound sculptor edanticonf. in his chapter of the trolldans volume, edanticonf presents us with the three crying fairies. it is a tale in four parts of desire and tears - as every good story should be. the first fairy tells us about a lake in the deep woods where a young princess called tuvstarr once lost her gold heart. no creature of the forest could convince the princess to let it go, and so she stayed there by the black lake until she turned into a beautiful flower. the second fairy tells us how the princess, before she lost her precious necklace, would ride like the wind through the forest on the back a grand elk. the princess loved the thrill and the elk loved the princess. vril steps in and actually lets us hear the noble elks heart racing from both the pace and his devotion to tuvstarr. the third fairy ends endanticonfs beautiful but melancholy tale with a glimmer of hope: by the darkest of lakes, the loveliest flo-wers grow. the end.

the hungarian drum & bass innovator jade, known as head honcho of neurofunk powerhouse eatbrain, returns to citrus recordings. for the a-side none other than break takes up remix duties reworking jade�s �what you are� that was originally released on his own imprint back in 2014. continuing with �monstereo� we hear a more rolling, pumped up groove underlined by tear up bass sounds and fueled by hyperactive arpeggios.

a surprising collaboration between mannella and the uk technos bearer - blawan- that clearly establish a deep techno-space, where the quirky sounds are free to be developed and created. right from the very first second of the dark breeze, which spreads a fluid, echoing and fickle synth, we can hear those fuzzy noises that mannella loves to use. a perfect combo is given by the presence of intense drums, thorough pads and harped synths: a total head-trip that flows in the whole ep. then, with i know you are a cheerful air gain the upper hand, leading it to be theperfect dance floor track. even if is just the second release, its pretty explicit the aim that the label has come to play in music today.

your silent faces second release � the first on his own label tethys records � continues the deep, brooding techno trajectory set by his first track on fiedeltwo, a place where arms bend backwards. title track red rain is urgent yet considered: subtle acid lines swirl and build against bright defined percussion while the bassline builds towards infinity. it reveals ysf�s inspirations from motorik music, early industrial bands like nitzer ebb and deep techno heroes including sandwell district and rrose.kleinian transform takes techno to a place where georgio moroder meets front 242 and basic channel, creating robotic space-tracks with dub disco melodies, insistent bassline and mighty crescendos. its a late night dancefloor track influenced by dj hell and francois k, but equally by coil and new order. scorched earth closes the red rain ep with a post�apocalyptic melancholy, a soundscape which nods to kraftwerk and boards of canada. this is the track ysf wants you to hear at the end of times, recalling the blistering winds of post-nuclear fallout: darkly spacious, with a questioning melody. the ep was mastered by keith tenniswood at curvepusher.

on his first release for berceuse heroique, rotterdam�s finest dj overdose meets one of the strongest producers of detroit, mr. ob ignitt. overdose creates the best soundtrack for a �march of the robots� scene with dead city. the mighty bounce of early dr. dre productions meets some nasty electro carnage. on sorry to disappoint you can hear the classic west coast electro sound of some of his older releases mixed with some funky sci-fi synth lines. then, ob ignitt takes this monster of a tune and creates one of the gnarliest house tunes of this year with a proper g funk bassline that will properly test your sound system on a good night.

anyone familiar with the music of sinisa tamamovic knows the man is an expert in techno floor fillers.... the tracks here are no exception, valentina and confused reside in the world of bold, unrelenting grooves constructed with little more than bass and drums: and they get the job done. the bass lines are distinctly sinisa, simple, catchy, and mixed exquisitely, they take on a whole new attitude when played on club systems. valentina starts things strong, its driving rhythm gains energy as atmospheres develop and an worldly vocal enters, a latin american street rhyme that gives the track some international flare. confused is more raw, employing rough drums and ethereal sound effects. either one will do the trick for peak hours and late nights, and expect to hear these all over the place at wmc 2016

benales opens the e.p. with radiate, a track where you can clearly hear his influences of the american school of 90s minimal techno. long time dj but new on the production side, this is benales first effort on vinyl. after his initial masterpiece on knotweed records (kw006) and a handful of releases on demented (hiss 1992) and krill, opuswerk is back on knotweed with displacement, a trippy, hard hitting, analogic techno attack: no concession on this one! gonzalo md has already delivered the goods on both knotweed (kw004 and kw011) and decision making theory (dmt 006), as well as a fantastic ep recently on extrasolar. here, with sharp oscillation, he keeps developing his unique style, producing a highly percussive, almost samba-like, piece of techno. label owner philippe petit closes the e.p. with indian summer, a track moving along a warm bassline, bearing some recognisable krautrock influences.

andreas tilliander returns to kontra-musik in a grand style with his second tm404 album. titled acidub , this highly anticipated release is much more of an evolution than a repetition of the first superbly self-restricted album, where tilliander even decided to use only one of the two roland tb-303 waveforms. acidub is a more playful and open listening experience, no doubt inspired by his extensive live touring with the tm404 concept. in fact, you can almost hear tilliander s flock of acid machines breaking free from the restrained modus operandi. every sound is like a migratory bird with a heart yearning for high altitude and favourable winds.

king ghazi is shadi khries and gilbert cohen. recorded in amman / may 2014. all the music presented here is original, and has been recorded in jordan in may 2014. this project was born when i met shadi in paris, at the percussion recording sessions for acid arab. from these sessions came the idea of&#8203,,,,,exploring local music styles on the verge of disappearing, in jordan and elsewhere in the middle east. it was also an opportunity for me to meet exceptional people and wonderful artists. for 15 days, we travelled through jordan, recording local musicians. here we hear osama al khairat aka abu sayah, an exiled syrian musician who plays the yarghoul (two flutes linked together by beeswax. one plays a drone, the other the corresponding range, all while blowing continuously). i want to specially thank shermine sawalha for allowing us to record in the living room of her parents house, as well as for coordinating the whole project. without her energy and patience, this record would not be in your hands today.

skam records are very proud to release an album of unheard tracks from one of our very first artists and it feels good to have him back home. jega has always provided his own slant on the genre, with warm standout melodies and his always edgy solid beats driving it all. its good to hear his machines working again after all these years. jega returns with a selection of the year before his seminal first release (ska006). a collection of unreleased tracks from 1995, recorded live to cassette tape and dat, and gathered 20 years later to form 1995. this album provides a glimpse into the fledgling electronic music scene of the 90s.

a1 nubian mindz - deep in raves: well known for his versatile and rich production, colin delivers once more. with a quite suitable name - deep in raves is just that. a deep plunge into dark and rave-like atmosphere. after a short intro layered with an ominous voice, massive bassline takes over and drives the track through the darkest curves. enriched with short percussions and a synth stab this is quite a stomper best experienced on a good club soundsystem, preferably in the dark. a2 volster - nebula: almost obsessed with audio purity, volster manages to combine new and modern sounds with old-school genre roots. nebula is all about complexity. although it is based on an electro foundations, it s so much more. space filled with an oscillatory synth motion perplexed with smooth pads that gives the impression of an interstellar properties. no detail is left unengaged, from the 808 that keeps everything in motion to the subtle amount of panning. this is a beautifully crafted story by a producer who is slowly but steadily growing into one of the best croatian artists. b1 lucretio - dracula: the most famed beard of cadoneghe/italy has pulled another magic gem from his music source. widely known for his relentless tendency to push the analogue spectrum to it s extreme, lucretio surprises once more with his ability to blend simple pieces into an effective sub storm with almost comic like features. dracula is not your conventional tune and it s pretty obvious why as soon as you put the needle on. broke down rhythm is heavily fueled by polished but enormous sub background with sparse and ¥in your face¥ shots. seemingly random notes take a gloomy and powerful form during the break and soon the lurky atmosphere comes into picture. this is truly brilliance in it s full simplicity. if only bram stoker could hear this, he would probably be both stunned and amused! b2 james booth - jxst do it: one of our goals on vakum is to be on a lookout for a new and promising talents. berlin based james booth surely fits the bill. jxst do it is a seriously crafted track with rich rhythmic section wrapped in a steady build up. after the initial break-beat intro sliced in short chunks, subtle 303 bassline takes over and the rhythmic game begins. booth delivers a perfectly timed cuts accompanied by a diverse palette of percussions. this is a perfect piece for those build up moments in the club..

jun kamoda is a producer, dj and mc from tokyo. new to the label but a friend of the party, jun came to mister sunday in nyc last year and ended up hanging around for a few days afterward, digging for records and sharing bowls of spaghetti with the boys. when he returned to japan, he got to working on the music we now present to you on the clay ep. this is jun blending loopy, psychedelic disco stylings with chugging drum work for three party-ready cuts. they�ve been chopping up our dance floors months, we�re excited to hear them do the same to yours.

torrential results from the orderly geometric spatial arrangement of sounds and pulses within the internal structure of these new tracks. the rhythmic structure is based on regular internal tonal or sonic arrangements that are often expressed in the sub-geometric frame of club tracks. even when the audible grains are too small to hear, or are irregularly spaced, the underlying sonic structure is always effective - and can be determined by meticulous diffraction.

after moods, an album full of fantastic and contemporary designs of electronic music which constantly flirted with modern classic designs hildenbeutel releases the remix-ep, all produced by himself like he often used to do in former days. the result is a package of five remixes (four on vinyl, the download version with a bonusstrack). you can hear the neo trance-influences of artists such as kink or others as well as the fine feel for the understanding of peaks and arrangements without gimmicky showing off. at the latest with the driving and upbuilding groove of lost - retouched the shaman in the desert peeps out from behind the cactus and offers psychedlische gifts. henceforward it is: everybody for himself and all together.

local talk release number 66 moves in deeper territories with a duo that needs no further introduction, greg dowling, shane johnson aka fish go deep. these two fine gents have been releasing music for more than two decades. both greg & shane played an integral part in the emergence of house music in cork city between the years of 1988 and 2001 as their well renowned sweat night at sir henrys helped to attract a host of talent, such as kerri chandler, laurent garnier, dj deep, glenn underground, derrick may just to name a few. it s a big, big honour to have them on aboard for this debut on local talk. first track, off script, takes us straight back to the days of prescription. the driving kick and bassline, warm pads and a hypnotic melody line that crescendos throughout the track keeping you hooked from start to finish. on the flip, northern reach, follows on the same theme. it hits deep, the strings adds that extra bit of drama and again showing the duo s skill in creating perfect atmospheric and timeless deep house. you wouldn t be surprised to hear dixon drop this in a dj set.

lena platonos is a pioneer of the greek electronic music scene of the 1980s. she produced and released her second solo album, gallop, in 1985 that de reissued in 2015.

* this is the seventh surgeon album.
* -while exploring new production techniques using old and unlikely hardware, the results were so unusual that i really had the sense that these pieces of equipment didn t actually create these sounds, rather they were in fact some kind of elaborate reception device that allowed me to tune into transmissions from distant galaxies. the music i could hear was actually the received transmissions of pop hits from those distant galaxies that were being played on their radio stations. i quickly recorded all that i could before losing the transmission.
* i consulted with dr andrew read, the astrophysicist with whom i recorded guitar treatments in 1999. he has worked on the discovery of the most distant galaxies and astronomical objects in the universe. together we came up with a possible list of where these musical transmissions may have come from.
